High School Letterman Jacket, A Recognition Of Excellence
A letterman’s jacket is a heavy jacket made for winter and is being worn by thousands of highschool scholars in each campus throughout US. The letters are awarded by coach or athletic directors for excellence in sports. The letters which the students have earned are given to them in a sports feast at the end of semester.
Though there is a assortment of Letterman’s jacket available in the market, they each have few common things. For instance the name or nickname of the college appears somewhere in the jacket, historically in the back of the jacket. Also areas round the armpits, top and bottom of the jacket are covered by leather or imitation leather. A freshman is given a number as a reward to join a team. Traditionally, a letterman’s jacket isn’t bought before earning a letter by the students. After earning a letter by a freshman it is placed above the left pocket leaving space for any future college letter. Also if the student is awarded some medals for excelling in some sports then often the medals are stitched to the letterman’s jacket. People who participate in sports each year add alphabets to their jackets. Letter jackets are also awarded to students by many varsity and universities.
The letters and awards one earns are to be worn proudly as recognition of your time, dedication and difficult work you have put into your accomplishment. Most graduate wish to keep their jacket even after graduation as a explanation of their achievements and pride as a student of that high school .
