One for the ladies: the charmer vs. the rebel…?

Do women expect men to be their romantic hero 24/7 (I know some do at the beginning of the dating period of the relationship so they can brag about their men to other women – one way to make fellas feel bad about themselves unethically)? We all know we can’t all be like that all the time so why persist a fantasy for so long that we can’t breathe?

I couldn’t understand why men couldn’t be independent people who doesn’t let women push them around. Women tend to feel a need to dominate men (er, why?). I clearly don’t see anything wrong with men being the prize and the woman doing the pursuing sometimes (‘sometimes’ is in there to prevent a list of nagging comments of how I’m a pig etc.).

So the question is ‘why can’t men be independent (and occassionally the dominant one) in front of their women instead of being this submissive charmer in the eyes of a woman’?

I don’t expect my guy to be my hero 24/7 — I kinda like being my own fiercely independent hero! My guy DOES have to step up if he wants to live in my world though. I think you need to meet some good, strong, assertive (not aggressive – many people get assertive and aggressive confused) women and you’ll see what I mean.
