Milan city break
Milan is very famous city of Italy. It also is considered as most fashionable city of Europe. Right after Rome, this is the second largest cosmopolitan city in Italy. People of Milan are very conscious about their hair style, outfits and perfumes. That is why this city leads in design and fashion technology. In fact, there are many designer shops and boutiques where you can pick up branded attire and accessories.
Milan’s “Quadrangle of Fashion”, as it’s sometimes called, is a district housing many of the designer boutiques and upmarket jewellery shops between Via Montenapoleone, Via Andrea, Via Gesu, Via Borgospesso, Via della Spiga, and Corso Venezia. Most of the major Italian fashion brands are headquartered in the city; if you recognize the names Gucci, or Dolce and Gabbana, a holiday to Milan will be right up your fashion-boutique-lined avenue.
If you are an art enthusiast, you should see the Duomo which has a large collection of marble statues and also includes the golden Madonna statue. You should also visit Biblioteca Ambrosiana which is the historical library of Milan. The library is also home to the notebooks and drawings of Leonardo Da Vinci.
La Scala – or Teatro alla Scala to give it its full name – is one of the world’s most famous opera houses. It has played host to hundreds of famous productions and directors, including Daniel Barenboim and Toscanini. Inaugurated on 3 August 1778, the theatre has weathered World War Two bombings and rough renovations, and remains a meeting place for the wealthy and influential in Milan. Seeing an opera or recital there in the luxury boxes is magical, and the height of Milanese entertainment and culture.
Italy is the spiritual home of football for many fans, and whether you’re an AC Milan or Juventus fan, you won’t want to miss the opportunity to watch a game at the San Siro or the Stadio Olimpico in Turin. With an unrivalled atmosphere and the most passionate fans, you won’t experience anything like it anywhere else in the world.
Milan has a variety of art museums, that are of Italian Renaissance and Baroque designs. Must visits are Pinacoteca di Brera, Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, Poldi Pezzoli Museum, Bagatti Valsecchi Museum, Societa’ per le Belle Arti ed Esposizione Permanente, The Sforzesco Castle, Civico Museo Archeologico, Contemporary Arts Pavillion (PAC), Museo del Duomo (Museum of the Cathedral), Museo d’Arte Paolo Pini, Galleria d’Arte Moderna
